DVD burning

I bought a dual layer DVD+R (2.4x) for only 35 pesos yesterday at...SECRET.Shocked I wanted to burn a couple of movies to free-up my hard drive. My movies consume 25 gig on my drive D partition. Five movies was in MKV format and the rest are in avi.

I chose Resident Evil 3, Spiderman 3, Transformers, and Shoot Em Up to be burned on the said DVD. I used ConvertXtoDVD software to handle conversion and burning. ConvertXtoDVD is reliable. I've used it even before the birth of Lightscribe technology. After burning with my Asus DRW-25014L1T, I tested the disc to our DVD player. Video is A-okay however there was no audio. I tried it on my pc with media player, the audio was working. I'm wondering where the problem is. I did the same process with my previous DVD burnings. Anyways, good thing it wasn't the expensive dual layer DVD that I used.

Floyd Mayweather Resigns

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Oscar De La Hoya tickets may not sell anymore since "Pretty Boy," Floyd Mayweather already announced his retirement. The lack of joy in pursuing his boxing career pushed the undefeated 31-year old fighter to resign.

After beating Oscard De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton of Britain, perhaps Mayweather felt that he had enough time in boxing. Being the WBC welterweight champ and holding a record of 39 victories, 0 defeats and 25 wins via KOs, Mayweather has the reason to be satisfied with his boxing career. Although he had previous retirement buzz before, this time, Mayweather and his camp says it's for real and permanent.

His resignation is a dismay to a lot of boxing fanatics since the world is longing for a rematch between Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya. Many were unsatisfied with their previous fight. People thought it was a fight for show and money as both boxers didn't really got hit and hurt.

I hope it's not yet a closed door for Mayweather. Who knows, one of these days he'll retract his resignation and would went to get back on the ring once again.

Lakers: What went wrong?

When it was all set for the 2008 NBA finals, a lot of basketball enthusiasts, analysts, and experts were favoring the LA Lakers over the Boston Celtics. The factors considered were:

1. Championship experience
2. Coaching edge of Phil Jackson over Doc
3. Bench mobs
4. and of course the MVP, Kobe Bryant

True enough, these things are correct. However, In my opinion, what happend was that each advantage of the Lakers was matched (cancelled out) by the Celtics. To start with, the championship experience. HUNGER ruled over championship poise and experience in the series. The Boston Celtics, thirsty of the NBA crown for over a decade played with more hussle, intensity, and heart. On the coaching edge of Jackson over Doc Rivers, I think it showed evidently in the series. Jackson was quicker in reacting to the game and in drawing plays. However it was the players who spelled the difference which leads us to the bench mobs. The bench of the Celtics is one of the underrated bench in the NBA. But after what the crew showed in the finals, that's history. Lastly, the "Black Mamba." Well, the story is three heads are better than one. That is, three hungry all-stars is better than the MVP.

Boston Celtics 2008 NBA Champs

While my sisters are too crazy about skin care, hair care, and make-ups, I'm just crazy over the NBA finals! Finally the Boston Celtics got their 17th NBA title and what a better way to get it than being at home and winning it big time. The Celtics shuttered the Lakers 92-131. Unfortunately for the Lakers, Boston had their A-game today. Everything went right for the Celtics. They 24 points in the first half and at least 31 points in the succeeding quarters.

Veteran trio Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce was finally able to kiss the elusive NBA trophy. The three had 26, 26 and 17 points respectively. Paul Pierce was named the Finals MVP and I think he truly deserved it. Yes it was the big three who lead the Boston to victory but you can never deny the fact that it was a team effort. Posey, House, Brown, Cassell, Powe, and the rest of the Celtics had their own glorifying moments during the regular season until game 6 of the finals. This is what I like the most about the team. Doc Rivers was able to bind the players together to play their roles and step-up when needed the most.

I hope they'll still make it next year. I'd love to see them gainst the San Antonio Spurs in the finals.

Boston Celtics: Just A Game Away

The Lakers bow their heads as they head to their lockers after a shameful play at home. The Celtics meanwhile were jumping on their locker benches. The Lakers blew a 24-point lead in the first half and pushed Boston to just a game away from the NBA trophy. The final score, 97-91 doesn't reflect the entire story of the game.

Just when everybody thought that LA is in full control, after coming out of their gym lockers, the tides changed between the two teams. The Celtics worked extra hard on defense which revived their offense. Shots fell for the Celtics even for their bench players. Posey and Eddie House had a sharp shooting night. Lakers failed to show their poise. Hoping that the MVP could save the day once again, Kobe Bryant failed to deliver the goods when it counted the most. He only had 17 points on 6-19 shooting from the field. The bench mobs of LA also didn't show up. Sasha Vujacic played poor defense on a crucial play against Ray Allen.

I'm sure the Boston will never take chances. They'll try to finish it come game 5 still at Staples. But I expect a last stand from Kobe and the Lakers and so I expect a blowout game on Monday(Philippine time) in favor of the Lakers. But come game 6, balloons shall fall for the Boston Celtics.

Boyce Avenue

My friend GrAcey  asked me if I've heard of the group, Boyce Avenue which is now making fame in YouTube. It was the first time I heard about the group. Browsing over YouTube isn't really my thing but after hearing  some songs of the group via GrAcey's phone, it caught my interest.

They're doing cover songs to attracy listeners. After Colbie Caillat and Marie Digby, obviously Boyce Avenue is hoping to make it into the big scene.

Check out their official website here.

Video Games

I felt an itch for PC games today. I only have NBA Live 2008, Call of Duty 2, WarCraft and other games I need not to mention installed in my computer. I searched for the top video games as of May this year. Here's what I got.

1. Crysis
2. World in Conflict
3. The Orange Box
4. Sins of a Solar Empire
5. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

I'd probably install Crysis and Call of Duty 4 this weekend. These games are of course expensive but there's always a cheaper way to grab these games. My friend was able to get a copy of Call of Duty 4 and Crysis. He was patient enough to download. hehehe I'm not really hooked with PC games anymore. However, sometimes I just feel like playing for 2 hours or more. It's a good way to relax and take a break from a long day of programming.

I'm interested in "realistic" video games like Call of Duty, NBA live and racing games like Need For Speed. After Need for Speed Underground, I wasn't able to fully play the succeeding releases.

Can't watch Game 3

Huhuhuhu Sick of bad credit repair? Need credit repair services? Repair credit now before things get terribly messy! That's not really my problem today though. It's worse than that.

School is for real now. My class will be from 9:00AM to 1:00PM. This means I'm gonna miss today's game 3 of the 2008 NBA finals. *sigh Oh, can I be absent on the first day?!hehehe I'm expecting a hell of a game from the 2008 MVP, the self-proclaimed "Black Mamba" - Kobe Bean Bryant. His breakout game is just not there yet. But I'm pretty sure the Lakers and especially Doc Rivers and the Celtics know it will come. Despite the 2-0 advantage, definitely it's not a done series. The Lakers will take game 3 (my forecast)!

I just hope the Celtics put up a good game. I think they can't afford to be blown out in a game. Their moral is definitely high and it extends to the bench players. If their or at least one of their shock troopers can put up another stellar play like Leon Powe in game 2, they'll be in good shape.
